Stepping Into God’s Faithfulness

Daily Reading

Genesis 12:1-3; 15:1-6 >

Stepping out into the unknown can be quite terrifying, and yet, this is exactly what Abram does as he steps out in faith when God tells him to go.  Why would he do that? Abram goes because he is given a mission, and believes that the God who is calling him will be faithful to His promises. God promises to guide him, bless him, make from him a great nation, and through him bless others. God's intention is evident from the very beginning: through Abram (Abraham) the world will be blessed. This is the beginning of a plan that continued in Jesus' call to His disciples to make disciples of all nations. God's love for the world is a love that from the very beginning has ceaselessly pursued His people to redeem and bless the world.  What began with Abram, Jesus carried on, and humanity reaps the benefits of God in mission. Do you believe God is faithful? Are you willing to embrace God's mission and be a blessing to the world?
