Family Ministries The Family Ministries of City Church seeks to be a place where every member of the family can encounter Jesus in ways that will shape their own understanding and experience of His grace for the rest of their lives. We strive to make the gospel comprehensible to all people at any stage of life and spiritual journey. We want to partner with families to address the opportunities and challenges of living in the city, not only to equip City Church families but to serve and reach all the families of San Francisco.
Our Goals Spiritual development of Children and Family as a whole
We work to give Children a firm understanding of the Bible in an environment that invites them into worship while encouraging them to ask the tough questions. We hope to equip families with the tools that enable this growth to happen in all aspects of their lives, personal and public.
Community
We wish to make City Church a place where everyone feels welcome and can get connected with other families. Veering away from exclusivity and insularity we hope to connect everyone with the Common goal of answering the questions: Is Jesus Christ who he said he was? If so what are the implications of this in my life and the community around us? See also service below.
Practical Support
City Church realizes that a big part of raising a family in the city is the day-to-day activities and decisions. We strive to offer resources to families that help them answer these questions. We in no way want to suggest how families should answer these questions. We more want to provide the information so that families can weigh the pros and cons and make educated choices.
Equipping Parents
We believe that there are many different parenting styles and that each child presents different challenges and parenting strategies. We also realize that a child's spiritual development and a parent's spiritual development are not two separate things. We encourage these developments to be happening together and strive to help parents answer the tough questions that both they and their children have.
Service
We strive to serve our community as a whole. We understand that the health of our families is affected by the health of our environment; that is the health of City Church, our neighbors, neighborhoods, schools and teachers etc. We hope to be a visible and active presence in the City: reaching out to the poor and the marginalized, helping beautify our parks and schools, and helping people regain composure amidst the anxieties of the City.
