Scot Sherman is the director of the Newbigin House of Studies, a cooperative venture between City Church and Western Theological Seminary. Scot served on the staff of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan and was the organizing pastor of The Village Church in Greenwich Village. He was the Senior Pastor of Intown Community Church in Atlanta prior to coming to City Church. Scot is married to Catherine. They met and married in New York City in 1991 and have four sons - John, Benjamin, James, and David. Scot is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary (M.Div.), Princeton Theological Seminary (Th.M), and the University of Wales (Ph.D).

Newbigin House is an urban center for missional training that views its task as resourcing a church-in-mission. The British missionary-theologian Lesslie Newbigin spent the final years of his ministry calling the Western church to be a church-in-mission, articulating a prophetic and counter-cultural Gospel of the Kingdom. However, in an increasingly secular and postmodern culture, new structures and paradigms for missional training are desperately needed. Thus, Newbigin House is a seminary-in-mission serving the church-in-mission during a critical time in history.

Dr. Sherman is currently raising missionary support for the next three years (October 2010-October 2013) by which time the House of Studies should be self-supporting.
