Reflection: Scripture

Humankind wants fulfillment. God made us to flourish under his authority. Scripture is where God exercises his authority. Psalm 1:1-3 depicts a flourishing image of the one who delights in God’s Word, a tree planted by streams of living water that produces fruit and prospers. The Bible is foundational for humanity and the Christian faith because it is where we meet the God who reveals himself in the person of Jesus Christ.

“Reading and studying Scripture has been seen as central to how we are to grow in the love of God; how we come to understand God and his truth more fully; and how we can develop the moral muscle to live in accordance with the gospel of Jesus even when everything seems to be pulling the other way.”

- N.T. Wright, The Last Word, 5.

Daily Bible Reading

The Daily Office is an ancient way to pray and read the bible.  The phrase simply means “daily service of readings” and contains a structured pattern of daily bible reading that follows the contours of the Church Year.  We highly recommend this ancient path to you if you are looking to develop a pattern of bible reading and prayer.  You can find the Daily Office here >
