Advent Prayer Services

Next week on Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have our Advent Prayer Services to mark the changing of the church calendar. This is a new tradition, begun earlier in the year to root our prayer lives in the understanding of the church year, and we hope you will join us as we sing, pray, and meditate on this time of waiting and longing for the coming of our Lord.

The reasoning behind these services, as we have discussed in the past, is threefold:

  1. To remember that everything is prayer--silence, singing, speaking, meditating, listening.
  2. To take up the devotional and obedience aspect of prayer, bearing one another’s burdens and rejoicing together in worship.
  3. To link prayer to our understanding of the church calendar, and remember that God’s timing is different from the timing of American culture.

The services will be held at both campuses and last an hour. They are a wonderful time to clear out some space in a busy season, time to set your mind and heart on the God who calls you to be still.
