Sunday Dinner for Artists

This fall sees the launch of get-togethers for artists both from within City Church and the larger SF community to create a community of support for one another. Minna Choi and Karl Digerness are spearheading these Artists' Meetups, which will take place beginning Sunday, October 20th and following every other week afterwards.

The vision for these meetups is to help artists create a community of support for one another. City Church has been intentionally turning a light towards the importance of art, and the people who make it. These get-togethers are a way that we've thought of to allow artists of all faith backgrounds to carve out a quiet time during their week to meet with and encourage each other and reflect on how the work they're making is falling in line with their own personal goals and their goals in the larger community.

As artists, the notion of encouraging another artist is big. We need to remember that it's not always about how we can share our work with the world--which is a huge part of what we think about--but living in a quiet space of encouragement and rest with other artists.

The bimonthly meetups begin this Sunday, October 20th, Russian Hill from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, during which time there will be a communal dinner and time for round-table encouragement and work-sharing. In addition, there is one hour of optional silent work time from 4:30 to 5:30. The meetup is open to career artists from all design, art, and performance industries.
