Children's Ministry Sunday Schedule

A warm welcome from Children’s Ministry! We’re so glad you’re here. If you are new or visiting, we invite you to explore our Children’s Worship spaces before the start of service. If you have a child, 3-years through 5th grade, we encourage you to accompany them at dismissal to see their worship space and where you will be picking them up.

Any questions? Stop by Children’s Check-In before the 10 AM service and we’ll be happy to help. You can also email CM@citychurchsf.org.

Parent Area

If you need a quiet or private space for your child where you can still listen to the service, please visit the Parent Area on the 3rd floor, just outside the balcony entrance, or the Gold Room across from the main worship hall. The Nursery space is also an option for parents who need to nurse, change diapers, or play with their child.

Children’s Check-in

Before the start of our 10 AM service, check in your child, birth through 5th-grade, at Children’s Check-In. If this is your first time, a greeter at the check-in station will enter your child’s basic information so we can print a name tag with their class information and any allergies or medical conditions. Your child must be checked in and wearing their name tag before entering their classroom. You’ll receive a “child check” sticker that you must present when you pick your child up.

You may opt for a child in 1st through 5th grade to sign themselves out. In this case, you should give your “child check” tag to the child to wear in addition to their name tag. If the child is not wearing the “child check” tag, they will not be allowed to check themselves or their younger (1st-5th grade) siblings out. Children able to sign themselves out will be released from Children’s Worship at communion time.

Infants

Childcare for Infants is available in the Nursery by our paid nursery workers and Parent Aide volunteers. The Nursery is located on the Children’s Floor downstairs from the main level.

Toddlers

Children’s Worship for strong walkers up to 3-years is available during the 10 AM service starting at 9:45. The Toddlers classroom is located in the Nursery on the Children’s Floor downstairs from the main level. Our volunteers will lead the toddlers in music, Bible storytelling, craft time, and snack. Take-home coloring pages are available for parents and guardians to connect with their child about their story at home.

3-Years through Kindergarten

Children 3-years-old and potty trained through Kindergarten begin with their families in service until the Blessing of the Children after the Passing of the Peace. Children are called forward, blessed, and escorted downstairs by their teachers into the Gym where they worship together with Welcome, Bible storytelling, Fellowship, and snack time. Take-home craft and coloring pages are available for parents and guardians to connect with their child about their story at home.

1st through 3rd grade

Children 1st through 3rd grade begin with their families in the service until the Blessing of the Children after the Passing of the Peace. Children are called forward, blessed, and escorted downstairs by their teachers into Classroom #3 where they worship together with liturgy, Bible storytelling, small group Bible study, and Fellowship. Take-home bulletins and crafts are available for parents and guardians to connect with their child about their story at home.

4th and 5th grades

4th and 5th graders begin with their families until the Blessing of the Children after the Passing of the Peace. Children are called forward, blessed, and escorted downstairs by their teachers into Classroom #2 where they worship together with Activity, Bible Exploration, Response, and Prayer. 4th and 5th graders rejoin their families in the main service for communion. If you need resources for talking with your child about communion, please visit the Family Resource Shelf in the Gold Room or email Barbara, barbara@citychurchsf.org.

Pick Up

When picking your child up from the Nursery, Toddlers, Gym, or Classroom #3, please wait behind the Dutch door or tables and a volunteer will assist you. Please have your “child check” tag ready. If you are unable to present your “child check” tag, or if your child has lost his or her name tag, you will be asked to show picture ID to a Children’s Ministry Staff member or On-Site Supervisor in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all children under our care.
