Rev. Jonathan P. Gundlach, J.D.

Executive Pastor

Jonathan spent most of his life in Chicago and South Florida before joining the staff of City Church in 2009.  A licensed attorney, Jonathan practiced civil rights litigation and nonprofit organizations law in Chicago before becoming increasingly involved with church planting and being called to seminary in 2003.  During seminary, Jonathan had the the unexpected opportunity to open and operate a small chain of speciality coffee stores in Fort Lauderdale, FL, an experience which greatly transformed his understanding of life and ministry (and coffee).  Upon graduating Reformed Theological Seminary in 2009, Jonathan and his wife Kristen made their long-desired journey to San Francisco.  Jonathan's three children, Noah, Rowan and Matylda were all born in SF.  Jonathan is responsible for overseeing the business operations of City Church and its affiliated ministries, serves on the teaching team, and directly coordinates the Newbigin Fellowship, a nine-month, intensive cultural discipleship program.  If you can’t find Jonathan in SF, there’s a good chance you’ll find him racing down a mountain in the Sierra Nevada.
