Reflections On A Night For City Hope

Dear City Church family,

Last Friday evening, a sold-out crowd gathered at the Great American Music Hall as photographers, illustrators, documentarians, poets, and artists shared nine different stories about the work and lives of our City Hope community. The stories illuminated the profound beauty and struggle of the Tenderloin and gave voice to people who are often unheard, misunderstood, and all too often, demonized.

The audience in attendance was a beautiful combination of City Church members, friends and family of those whose stories were being told, nonprofit leaders, and people from the local arts community. I am incredibly grateful for the impact of this event. The night confirmed to me the distinctive ability that City Hope has in bringing art and justice together to form powerful and profound stories of understanding, compassion, and hope. If we continue to give voice to the Tenderloin through engaging local artists, I truly believe that we will create a community movement of healing and restoration to those we serve.

Peace,
