The Bake Sale for Japan was an astounding success, raising $17,500. City Church’s overwhelming generosity on Mother’s Day is going to fund five relief trips to Northern Japan that our friend Pastor Seima and Grace City Relief are leading in the ongoing recovery effort. Their focus in the immediate aftermath of the quake and tsunami was to provide basic necessities; now, our partners are committed to providing longterm physical, emotional, and spiritual support—distributing supplies, cleaning up houses and neighborhoods, and spreading the good news in Ishinomaki City, Iwate prefecture, and Fukushima prefecture. The ability to respond to this a tragic event in such a local and personal way is our privilege.

As seen on this brief video, the success of the fundraiser hinged on the effort and generous response from our entire church—from Cuban Flan, to young ones selling goodies, to a person sharing how she was personally affected, to gluten free cake. We hope that you are blessed by joining God’s redemptive work in Japan.
