We Need Each Other

"If you aren't in a group, you aren't in City Church." It's not a statement that flies well with everyone I know. We used this phrase quite a bit in the early days of City Church to emphasize that City Church doesn't just have small groups, we ARE small groups. Now, I realize that you are still at City Church if you haven't entered into group life yet. I also know that certain seasons of life make group life very challenging, feeling almost impossible. But I want to make you think, and I want you to feel a burden. The burden of others. The burden of responsibility. The burden of seeing your faith as inherently plural. Taking the plunge into community is scary, and certainly countercultural. Cities can be places that seem to beg us to isolate, cocoon, and wall off others from our lives. But the gospel creates a new community, and the guts to become more open, more vulnerable, and in the process, more supported and loved.

I've never been more excited about the direction group life is taking at City Church. We've done a lot of listening, and groups are going to be more flexible, and we believe, more supported by our staff, than ever before. Our goal is for everyone, no matter how difficult or complex the season of life you are in, to be able to experience group life. If you have been thinking of moving from singular to plural in your developing faith... now's the time to do it!
